Light Nelson - 6 to 10 July 2018
Light Nelson will be staged for the fourth time in 2018 from 6-10 July, with over 60 works that create an outdoor gallery of brilliant light installations.
Light Nelson is staged every two years by the Light Nelson Trust, with technical assistance to artists provided by the Light Nelson Collective and production team.
As a free community event, the emphasis is on accessibility:
- both in the support given to schools and community groups to take part,
- and as an event that everyone – from toddlers in their jammies to the elderly in their walkers – can attend and enjoy.
As well as the submissions from practising artists and groups, Light Nelson includes works submitted by Creative Industries students at NMIT. We also commission works from noted national and international artists working in film and digital media.
As well as dazzling light, many works emphasise performance and music, with high levels of interaction and surprise for the viewer.
Light Nelson is now a proud feature on the Nelson & Tasman events calendar, standing out in winter as a beacon for the local community and visitors to the region.
To ensure Light Nelson is accessible to the whole community, with the support of our sponsors, admission is free.
